WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Bobby Scott (VA-03), Co-Chair of Congressional Voting Rights Caucus, released the following statement after voting against H.R. 22, the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act: “House Republicans’ so-called SAVE Act is nothing more than a shameful attempt to silence the voices of millions of Americans.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Bobby Scott (VA-03), a member of the House Budget Committee, spoke during floor debate ahead of a vote on the Trump-Republican budget resolution. “Thank you, Mr. Speaker. I rise in opposition to this resolution, yet again. We hear speech after speech from the other side about the deficit and debt and, here, we see this resolution which increases the deficit. Let’s start with some facts.

WASHINGTON – Today, Ranking Member Robert C. “Bobby” Scott (D-VA-03), House Committee on Education and Workforce, and Ranking Member Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions, introduced the Raise the Wage Act of 2025.  According to the Economic Policy Institute, the Raise the Wage Act would gradually raise the minimum wage to $17 by 2030 and give roughly 22 million Americans a long-overdue raise.

Marc Veasey (TX-33) issued a forceful rebuke of President Donald Trump’s March 25, 2025, Executive Order entitled Preserving and Protecting the Integrity of American Elections. Byrd Mine Safety Protection Act of 2025. This bill coincides with the 15th anniversary of the Upper Big Branch (UBB) Mine Disaster, reflecting lessons learned from the deadly explosion on April 5, 2010, that killed 29 miners.
