Washington D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Miller (R-WV) introduced the Second Chance Reauthorization Act of 2024 alongside Congressman Danny K. Davis (D-IL) and Congressman Bobby Scott (VA-03). This bill reauthorizes reentry grant programs from the Second Chance Act of 2008 for an additional five years, allowing the government to continue making important investments across the U.S. to bolster reentry services and help people successfully reenter their communities after incarceration.

However, as President Biden has repeatedly said, this must be done in accordance with international law, which includes minimizing civilian casualties to the greatest extent possible. I am disturbed by continued reports of heavy losses of Palestinian civilian lives in the ongoing Israel-Hamas war and the recent Israeli airstrike that killed seven World Central Kitchen aid workers last week.

While the bill codifies some reforms to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) it simply does not do enough.

WASHINGTON – Ranking Member Robert C. “Bobby” Scott (VA-03) released the following statement after the Bureau of Labor Statistics announced that the economy added 303,000 jobs in March, and the unemployment rate ticked down from 3.9 to 3.8 percent. Since President Biden took office, the economy has added 15.2 million jobs. And initial unemployment insurance claims have remained below former President Trump’s pre-pandemic average for 20 consecutive weeks.
