Scott Named As Conferee to Annual Defense Bill
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Bobby Scott (VA-03), the Ranking Member of the Committee on Education and the Workforce, was appointed to serve as a conferee for the House and Senate conference committee on the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for FY 2024.
“I am honored to be appointed as a conferee to ensure we craft a final NDAA that will support our men and women in uniform, guarantee the defense of the American people, and invest in our national security,” said Congressman Scott. “Despite starting out as a bipartisan bill, the House passed an overtly partisan NDAA that was unfortunately filled with divisive poison pill amendments. As the process moves forward, I am hopeful that we can reach a bipartisan compromise that invests in our servicemembers, their families and our national defense. As the Ranking Member of the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the representative from Hampton Roads, I will be focused on fair employment practices and quality of life for servicemembers as well as ensuring there are robust investments in shipbuilding and resilience of defense communities.”
