Virginia Peninsula Boys and Girls Club Honors Rep. Scott

NEWPORT NEWS, VA - Congressman Robert C. "Bobby" Scott (D-VA-03) was honored on Thursday, March 27, 2008 by the Virginia Peninsula Boys and Girls Club at its 21st Annual Steak & Burger Dinner.

Congressman Scott was recognized for his continued dedication to the Boys and Girls Club throughout the <?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = ST1 />Peninsula and his support for the goals of Boys and Girls Club programs. He was also credited for his role in passing the Neighborhood Assistance Act, which he sponsored while serving in the Virginia General Assembly.The Act provides tax credits to businesses for donations made to approved social service and crime prevention programs.

In the 110th Congress, Congressman Scott has introduced the Youth PROMISE Act (H.R. 3846), which provides resources to state and local government to prevent juvenile crime.The Youth PROMISE Act will also provide an important new Federal funding stream for organizations like the Boys and Girls Club that help young people stay on the right track.
