Scott Votes Against Partisan Republican Funding Bill

March 11, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Bobby Scott (VA-03) issued the following statement after voting against H.R. 1968, the “Full-Year Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act” for FY 2025.

I am ready to support a bipartisan appropriations package to fund the government for the remainder of Fiscal Year 2025. Unfortunately, the House Republican funding bill we voted on today makes devastating cuts to veterans benefits, health care, and affordable housing. Instead of investing in our health and safety, it does nothing to rein in Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s illegal mass firing of civil servants or their dismantling of government services. If there is a lapse in government funding, it will be the responsibility of Republicans who control the White House and both chambers of Congress and it will be a direct result of their refusal to work with Democrats on a bipartisan funding package which would meet the needs of our nation.”
