Scott Statement on President's FY 2015 Budget

March 4, 2014

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Robert C. "Bobby" Scott (VA-03) issued the following statement on the President's Fiscal Year 2015 Budget:

"The President has laid out a comprehensive budget that calls for additional investments on top of the discretionary spending caps set by the last year's Bipartisan Budget Agreement. These additional investments in infrastructure, job training, education, advanced manufacturing, and other critical areas will help accelerate economic growth and expand opportunity for all hardworking Americans. Most importantly, the President has laid out a way to pay for these additional investments through closing tax loopholes and cutting spending elsewhere in the budget.

"Despite the President's proposed additional investments in both domestic and defense programs, I remain concerned with some of the choices that we will be forced to make if we do not adequately address sequestration. Nevertheless, I look forward to learning more about the many proposals included in the President's budget, such as expanding access to pre-school, the administration's plan to close the achievement gap, improving STEM education, and making college more affordable."
