WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Robert C. “Bobby” Scott (VA-03) issued the following statement on President Obama’s final State of the Union address:

“Under this President’s leadership, our nation has rebounded from the worst economic recession since the Great Depression. We just recorded the 70th month of consecutive job growth – the longest streak on record. We ended ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,’ saved the American auto industry, reformed Wall Street, and passed significant health care reform that has made access to affordable health care a reality for millions of Americans. These are just a few of the many great things that have been accomplished over the last seven years.

“Tonight, the President focused on the future and charged Congress and the next president to go even further. I am optimistic that by heeding the President’s call and by working together we can accomplish even more great things on behalf of the American people.”
