Scott Receives Mental Health Award

WASHINGTON, DC – On Tuesday evening, Congressman Robert C. "Bobby" Scott (VA-03) was honored by the National Association of County Behavioral Health and Development Disability Directors (NACBHDD) for his continued leadership on mental health issues in Congress.

"Mental illness and severe emotional stress affects millions of Americans every year and, unfortunately, too many problems go untreated," said Rep. Scott. "We have made great progress in ensuring that a range a health services are available for all Americans. The Affordable Care Act includes mental health and substance use disorder services in the 'essential health benefit' package, which all new health plans are now required to cover.

"It is an honor to be recognized by the National Association of County Behavioral Health and Developmental Disability Directors. This group helps ensure that our national policies are adequately addressing the needs of those with mental health disorders and developmental disabilities."

Representatives Grace Napolitano (CA-32), Ron Barber (AZ-02), Paul Tonko (NY-20), and Tim Ryan (OH-13) were also recognized by the NACBHDD for their commitment to mental health.
