WASHINGTON, D.C. – This week, Congressman Bobby Scott (VA-03), a member of the Congressional HIV/AIDS Caucus, received the Capitol Hill Champion Award from the National Minority AIDS Council (NMAC) for his advocacy on HIV/AIDS. This award is timely as World AIDS Day is observed on December 1st.
"As the representative of Hampton Roads, one of the selected 22 areas with high prevalence of HIV, protecting the health of my constituents is of utmost importance,” said Congressman Scott. “I am honored to accept this award, as I have spent many years advocating for more research, funding and education surrounding HIV/AIDS, especially in minority communities. I will continue my support for funding for the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) as well as the Global Fund to Fight AIDS. We will not rest until we have ended the HIV epidemic."
