Scott Honored for Advocacy to Expand Access to Pell Grants
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Bobby Scott (VA-03), the Ranking Member of the House Committee on Education and Workforce, issued the following statement after being named a Congressional Education and Workforce Leader from the Career Schools Private Education Network (CSPEN) at their 7th Annual Higher Education Policy Meeting. CSPEN is a non-profit organization promoting workforce-oriented education and the benefits career training programs provide to students and the businesses that employ their graduates. Congressman Scott received the award for his work on job training initiatives, especially the Bipartisan Workforce Pell Act.

“Workforce needs are evolving rapidly. To meet this demand, we must provide opportunities for individuals to gain the skills they need quickly. That’s why I sponsored the Bipartisan Workforce Pell Act. By expanding Pell Grant eligibility to short-term training programs, we directly support those seeking to upskill or reskill for in-demand jobs. By creating accessible pathways for all individuals to pursue quality education and training, we can ensure that no one is left behind in our fast-changing economy.
“I am proud to receive this award and I will continue my work to advance smart workforce development policies, expand opportunities for all and ensure our education policies meet the needs of the 21st-century economy.”
