Rep. Scott Urges Registrars to be Prepared for Record Voter Turnout
The text of Congressman Scott's letter to Richmond Registrar J. Kirk Showalter is below:
Mr. J. Kirk Showalter, General Registrar
City of Richmond
P.O. Box 61037
Richmond, VA 2361-1037
Dear Mr. Showalter:
I write to call your attention to the recent Advancement Project Report suggesting that Richmond will have precincts in which voting machines will be significantly less accessible in some minority communities than in majority communities, causing possible obstacles to voting in those minority communities.I have included a web address for the report for your convenience.https://www.advancementproject.org/pdfs/vpp/PollingPlaceResourcesReport.pdf
I have no independent information to indicate that there is such a problem in Richmond. However, in view of the report I feel it is important that we take all necessary steps to ensure that no such problem occurs and call it to your attention for your very able handling.
Very truly yours,
/S/
