02.12.09 | Rep. Scott to Brief Local Officials on the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act
WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Robert C. "Bobby" Scott announced today that he will host a meeting with local government officials on Tuesday, February 17th to brief them on important provisions of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 that will directly benefit localities in Hampton Roads. The final version of the legislation is expected to pass Congress by the end of the week and be signed into law by President Obama soon after.
"Local governments are facing tough budget choices in the months ahead due to our struggling economy," said Rep. Scott. "President Obama and Congress have crafted a plan to help stimulate the economy by investing in infrastructure, education, healthcare and clean energy. Tuesday's meeting will be an opportunity to brief local officials in my district on what is in the final bill and how the plan affects Virginia."
