01.13.10 | Scott Statement on Haiti Earthquake

January 13, 2010

WASHINGTON, DC - Rep. Robert C. "Bobby" Scott released the following statement today in response to the Earthquake in Haiti:

"My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims of this horrible tragedy, their friends and families.  Across this country and the world, people are ready and willing to help. At this stage, the information on the ground is still unknown, and until authorities can get a grasp on what is needed, "in kind" donations have been discouraged.

"For more information on what you can do to help the victims of the earthquake, you can go to www.usaid.gov.  The United States efforts are being coordinated through the United States Agency for International Development in cooperation with other federal, state, and local agencies.  Haitian citizens in the U.S. attempting to contact relatives can call 1-888-407-4747."
