Warner and Tim Kaine (both D-VA) and the entire Virginia congressional delegation urged the U.S. Army National Guard to prioritize funding for a new aviation facility in Richmond, Va. as part of the Future Years Defense Program (FYDP). With the current facility already impacting mission execution, the funding will help complete a much-needed facility to house the Virginia Army National Guard’s 28-aircraft fleet by the time its current lease with the Richmond Airport expires in 2032.

WASHINGTON, DC – Chairman Bobby Scott (VA-03) issued the following statement after the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) issued a proposed rule to reverse nutrition standards for school meals. “The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s proposed rule threatens the progress we’ve made toward improving nutrition in schools. The nutrition standards developed under the 2010 Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act were specifically designed to align with evidence-based dietary guidelines.
NEWPORT NEWS, VA – NEXT WEEK, Congressman Bobby Scott (VA-03) will host an information session on tax credits. Many individuals and working families may not realize they qualify for the EITC and/or the Child Tax Credit. Both of these credits are refundable for those below certain income levels. According to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, the EITC lifted about 5.6 million people out of poverty, including about 3 million children, in 2018.

A New Start designation would allow the Norfolk Harbor project to advance to its next stage of construction and receive Army Corps funding. Currently, the project is progressing using a combination of state and local funds.
