Mr. SCOTT of Virginia. Mr. Chair, I rise today in opposition to Amendment No. 47, which directs the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to reclassify public safety telecommunications officers, also called 911 dispatchers, as a protective service occupation in the U.S. Government's Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) system. This Amendment would have no direct effect on these workers' wages, benefits, or other resources; proponents of this reclassification have stated that ``the benefit of reclassification is recognition and respect.''

WASHINGTON, DC – Chairman Bobby Scott (VA-03) issued the following statement after the Congressional Budget Office released its report on the impact of gradually raising the minimum wage to $15 over five years.
“The Congressional Budget Office’s report comes to a clear conclusion: The benefits of the Raise the Wage Act for America’s workers far outweigh any potential costs. According to CBO’s estimates, the Raise the Wage Act would give up to 27 million workers a raise, lift 1.3 million Americans out of poverty, and boost economic growth by putting money in the pockets of workers who will spend that money in the economy.

NEWPORT NEWS, VA – On Tuesday morning, Congressman Bobby Scott will host Congresswoman Kathy Castor, the Chair of the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis, for a tour of the City Line and Paula Maria Village apartments, a residential community along the Newport News and Hampton border that has dealt with repetitive flooding from Newmarket Creek.
WASHINGTON, DC – Chairman Bobby Scott (VA-03) issued the following statement after the Bureau of Labor Statistics announced that the economy added 224,000 jobs in June and the unemployment rate was 3.7 percent. “Today’s report is further evidence that the overall strength of the American economy is not trickling down to millions of American workers.
