Since President Biden took office, the economy has added 4.8 million jobs, the most jobs ever created in the first 9 months of any Administration. We still have work to do to overcome the serious challenges caused by the Delta variant and build an economy where all families and workers have the opportunity to succeed.

NEWPORT NEWS, VA – According to a new analysis released today by the House Committee on Education and Labor, the Build Back Better Act could save Virginia families thousands of dollars in child care costs each year. The Committee’s report found that the typical Virginia family of four with one infant in full-time center-based child care would save $12,680 each year. The typical Virginia family of four with one infant and one child in full-time center-based child care would save $24,280 each year. “This is why we need to pass the Build Back Better Act,” said Congressman Bobby Scott (VA-03), the Chairman of the Committee on Education and Labor. “For too long, the exorbitant cost of child care has strained family budgets and pushed millions of Americans out of the workforce, particularly women.
