WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Bobby Scott (VA-03) announced that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded $20 million to Langley Square II Apartments in Hampton, Virginia under the Department’s Green and Resilient Retrofit Program (GRRP). This grant was funded under the Inflation Reduction Act, which was passed by Congressional Democrats and signed into law by President Biden in August 2022. GRRP supports significant energy efficiency and climate resilience renovations in more than 2,200 homes across the nation at properties housing low-income individuals, families, and seniors.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Bobby Scott joined Congressman John Sarbanes (MD-03) and fellow Chesapeake Bay Watershed Task Force Co-Chairs Representatives Rob Wittman (R-Va.) and Andy Harris (R-Md.), as well as Senators Ben Cardin (D-Md.) and Tim Kaine (D-Va.), sent a letter to the Principals’ Staff Committee of the Chesapeake Executive Council emphasizing the need for continued commitment to the goals of the 2014 Chesapeake Watershed Agreement, a landmark accord that established goals and outcomes for the restoration of the Bay, its tributaries and the lands that feed them. The bipartisan letter was signed by 25 other Representatives and Senators who represent districts across the watershed.

WASHINGTON, DC –  Today, Education and the Workforce Committee Ranking Member Robert C. “Bobby” Scott (D-VA), U.S. Senators Mazie K. Hirono (D-HI), Patty Murray (D-WA), Jack Reed (D-RI), and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) and Representative Mark Pocan (D-WI) introduced the Pell Grant Preservation and Expansion Act of 2024, bicameral legislation that would nearly double the Pell Grant maximum award, index the maximum award for inflation, and make other changes to expand the award for working students and families. The Pell Grant program is the cornerstone of federal financial aid for postsecondary education, serving over 6 million undergraduate students.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Congressman Bobby Scott delivered new funds to the Peninsula Agency on Aging on Thursday. Nearly $300,000 will be used to support the Home Delivered Meals program and safety check-ins with older adults. The funds will also pay for two new vans for those programs along with more modern methods to keep meals fresh for everyone enrolled.
