Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Ranking Member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee, Patty Murray (D-Wash.), Vice Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee, and Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.), Ranking Member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health, and Human Services, sent a letter warning against the Trump administration’s reported plans to unilaterally dismantle the Department of Education.

The President of the United States cannot fire a sitting Board Member without cause, such as malfeasance, neglect of duty, or misconduct.
