The Rebuild and Reopen America’s Schools Act, introduced with Congressman Norcross, the Save Education Jobs Act introduced with Congresswoman Hayes, and the Learning Recovery Act, introduced with Congresswoman Leger Fernandez and Congressman Sablan, are part of the Committee’s response to the severe impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on students, educators, and parents.

Stephanie Murphy (FL-07) to introduce legislation gradually raising the federal minimum wage to $15 by 2025. The Raise the Wage Act of 2021 would gradually increase the federal minimum wage to $15 over five years. Thereafter, the federal minimum wage would be indexed to median wage growth.

The program provides additional funding for struggling families with children who cannot access free or reduced-price school meals due to school closures.

WASHINGTON, DC – Committee on Education and Labor Chairman Robert C. “Bobby” Scott (VA-03) released the following statement after President Biden announced the administration’s National Strategy for the COVID-19 Response and Pandemic Preparedness, which includes guidance directing the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to determine the necessity of an Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS) and, if needed, to issue such a standard by March 15. Over the last year, Chairman Scott and Committee Democrats have repeatedly requested OSHA establish an ETS to protect workers.
