Telephone Town Hall on GOP's Big, Ugly Bill

On July 10th, 2025, Congressman Bobby Scott (VA-03) held a telephone town hall on President Trump’s Big, Ugly Bill that was signed into law.

The Congressional Budget Office predicts 17 million people will lose their health insurance, including over 322,000 Virginians, and 3 million people will lose access to food assistance through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The new law will also make college less affordable and 16 million students could lose access to free school meals. It does all of this to fund tax breaks for millionaires, billionaires and corporations, while still adding more than $3.4 trillion to our national debt.
