Virginia, Maryland Representatives Launch Congressional Chesapeake Bay Watershed Caucus

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Representatives Rob Wittman (VA-1), Chris Van Hollen (MD-8), Robert C. "Bobby" Scott (VA-3), and Andy Harris (MD-1) today announced the launch of the Congressional Chesapeake Bay Watershed Caucus, as they addressed a meeting of the Chesapeake Bay Commission in Washington, D.C. The Caucus will serve as an informal group of members dedicated to restoration of the Chesapeake Bay, including issues related to water quality, conservation, resource management, recreation and economic development, as well as educating other Members of Congress on these issues. The formation of the Caucus serves to continue and enhance the previous work of the Chesapeake Bay Congressional Task Force.

"It is important that we come together for the future of the Chesapeake Bay," Wittman said. "One of the most critical resources in this region, the Bay demands our attention and common sense action to preserve it for future generations. Bay states are historically, economically and culturally tied to the waters of the Chesapeake Bay; its restoration is one of my highest priorities. This Caucus brings together multiple partners to chart a path forward in Congress for the Bay."
