Scott Statement on Rep. Al Green Censure Resolution

WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Bobby Scott (VA-03) issued the following statement after voting against H.Res. 189 – Censuring Congressman Al Green (TX-09):  

"Congressman Green was punished for standing up for Medicaid. Republicans heckled, jeered and argued with President Biden last year during his State of the Union without sanction.

"When Congressman Green was escorted out, he walked past a Republican member of Congress who was wearing a bright red MAGA campaign hat in flagrant violation of the Rules of the House.

"The resolution was not referred to the Committee on Ethics where it could have received deliberative consideration over these obvious double standards. I voted no."
