Scott Statement on the Murder of Hersh Goldberg-Polin and Other Hostages

NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Congressman Bobby Scott (VA-03) issued the following statement:

“On October 7, Hersh Goldberg-Polin – an American citizen – was taken hostage by Hamas in their brutal terrorist attack on Israel. Last week, his body was recovered in Gaza along with five other hostages. My thoughts are with his parents, Jon and Rachel, as well as the loved ones of all the hostages. Their murder further confirms Hamas’ depravity and I condemn their brutality in the strongest possible terms. We must work towards a future where Hamas can no longer threaten the safety and security of Israelis and the Palestinian people who have long suffered under Hamas’ rule. I support the Biden-Harris Administration’s efforts to broker a ceasefire that will see the release of all hostages and bring them home.”
