Scott to Host Telephone Town Hall on American Rescue Plan

On Monday, March 22, Congressman Bobby Scott (VA-03) hosted a Telephone Town Hall on the American Rescue Plan. Congressman Scott will also be joined by Dr. Danny Avula who is the coordinator for Virginia’s vaccine distribution.

As chair of the House Education and Labor Committee, Congressman Scott drafted the emergency education and child care funding provisions in the bill. The ARP directs significant emergency education and child care funding to states. Virginia is estimated to receive $2.2 billion for K-12 schools, $845 million for institutions of higher education, $796 million for child care, and an additional $16 million for Head Start.

This town hall was an opportunity for consitutents to ask questions on the ARP and learn how the plan will help end the COVID-19 pandemic and help our economy build back better by safely re-opening schools, ramping up vaccinations, putting money in people’s pockets and putting people back in jobs.
