Scott Hosts Telephone Town Hall on the American Rescue Plan
On April 1st, Congressman Bobby Scott (VA-03) hosted another Telephone Town Hall on the American Rescue Plan (ARP). This was the final event in a series of tele town halls on the ARP. Congressman Scott was once again be joined by Virginia’s Vaccine Coordinator Dr. Danny Avula.
As chair of the House Education and Labor Committee, Congressman Scott drafted the emergency education and child care funding provisions in the bill. The ARP directs significant emergency education and child care funding to states. Virginia is estimated to receive $2.2 billion for K-12 schools, $845 million for institutions of higher education, $796 million for child care, and an additional $16 million for Head Start.
This town hall was another opportunity for constituents to ask questions about the ARP and learn how the plan will help end the COVID-19 pandemic and help rebuild our economy by safely re-opening schools, ramping up vaccinations, putting money in people’s pockets and putting people back in jobs.
