WASHINGTON – Today, Representatives Robert C. “Bobby” Scott (D-VA-03), Ranking Member of the House Committee on Education and Workforce, Jerrold Nadler (D-NY-12), Member of the House Judiciary Committee, and Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), a senior member and former Chair of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee, reintroduced the bicameral Restoring Justice for Workers Act. The legislation will end forced arbitration clauses, protect workers’ ability to pursue work-related claims in court, and allow workers to band together to vindicate their rights. Scott, Nadler, and Murray first introduced the bill in 2018.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Bobby Scott (VA-03) issued the following statement after voting against the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2027. “The NDAA should be a bipartisan effort to address national security threats and support our service members. The House Armed Services Committee advanced a strong bill that includes more than $60 billion for shipbuilding, including funding for one Columbia-class submarine, two Virginia-class submarines, continued incremental funding for CVN 80 and CVN 81, and continued advance procurement funding for CVN 82. The bill also restores collective bargaining rights and expands TRICARE coverage for IVF.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, for the second time, U.S. House Republicans were forced to withdraw a flawed Republican bill, H.R. 9237, from floor consideration. This followed strong opposition from members of the Democratic Veterans Caucus highlighting how the bill would represent the largest cut to veterans’ benefits in history, including cutting benefits for common conditions like tinnitus and sleep apnea and raising fees on VA home loans.
