WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Bobby Scott (VA-03) issued the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 3684, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, commonly referred to as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework:

“The passage of the bipartisan infrastructure bill delivers an essential pillar of President Biden’s domestic agenda. This bill represents a much-needed investment in jobs and our economy as we rebuild America’s infrastructure, including roads, bridges, public transit, ports, and broadband, as well as making our electric grid more resilient to climate change. This legislation will accelerate America’s global competitiveness in the 21st century.

“I look forward to enhancing this legislation by also passing its companion, the Build Back Better Act, to invest in American families and jobs so everyone shares in our economic recovery. The passage and enactment of both of these bills will ensure an historic investment in the American people through supporting good jobs, resilient infrastructure, quality child care, affordable health care and a rapid transition to clean energy, including offshore wind. This bill will lower costs for families across the country as we continue our recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.”
