Scott Statement on Trump Signing ACE Act Into Law
NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Congressman Bobby Scott (VA-03), co-chair of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed Task Force, issued the following statement after President Trump signed the America's Conservation Enhancement (ACE) Act into law.
“I am pleased that, after passing the Senate and the House of Representatives with strong bipartisan support, the Chesapeake WILD Act, a bill I introduced, is now law. The Chesapeake WILD Act passed as part of the broader ACE Act, which is a historic and much needed investment in conservation efforts. The Chesapeake WILD Act will help on the ground efforts to restore the Bay by creating a new grant program to support work to improve fish and wildlife habitat, support recreational opportunities, protect ecosystems that filter water, and enhance resilience throughout the Bay's 64,000 square mile watershed.
“The ACE Act also reauthorizes the Environmental Protection Agency's Chesapeake Bay Program and the National Park Service's Chesapeake Bay Gateways and Watertrails Program, both programs I have long supported. The Chesapeake Bay is a national treasure. As a co-chair of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed Task Force, I look forward to continuing to working with my colleagues and partners at the federal, state, and local level to restore it.”
