Press Release

NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Congressman Robert C. "Bobby" Scott (VA-03) issued the following statement on today's announcement by Virginia Governor-elect Terry McAuliffe nominating former Hampton Mayor Molly Ward to serve as Virginia's next Secretary of Natural Resources:

"I commend Governor-elect McAuliffe for his wise selection of Molly Ward to serve as the Commonwealth's next Secretary of Natural Resources. Having served as Hampton's Mayor and City Treasurer and as a special assistant to the President of the United States, Molly is one of Virginia's most faithful and dedicated public servants. She has shown time and time again that she is capable of bringing diverse groups and interests together for a common purpose. Most recently, she did this through her efforts as Mayor of Hampton to designate Fort Monroe as a National Monument, which required her to work with numerous local, state, and federal stakeholders and diverse private interests. This type of experience is critical for our next Secretary of Natural Resources to ensure that we protect the Commonwealth's precious natural and historic resources. I congratulate Molly on her nomination and I look forward to working with her in her new role."
