Press Release

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Robert C. "Bobby" Scott (VA-03) issued the following statement on the Senate's confirmation of Congressman Mel Watt (NC-12) as Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA):

"I congratulate my friend and colleague Mel Watt on his confirmation as Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency. The House of Representatives is losing a very talented and effective legislator, but the American people are gaining an experienced and dedicated public servant to lead this important agency. A Yale educated lawyer with significant private practice experience in real estate transactions and over 20 years of valuable experience on the House Financial Services Committee, Mel is uniquely qualified to lead the FHFA. He has spent his career in Congress working to ensure that all Americans have access to affordable housing and are protected from deceptive and predatory lending practices. I know that he will continue to do this in his new role as Director of the FHFA."
