Scott Applauds Support for Chesapeake Bay in Appropriations Bills
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Bobby Scott (VA-03), co-chair of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed Task Force, praised the House of Representatives for passage of H.R. 3055, an appropriations bill for fiscal year 2020 that contained important funding to strengthen the health of the Chesapeake Bay.
"The Chesapeake Bay is one of America's greatest treasures and I am thrilled to see high levels of support for the Bay in this year’s appropriations bills," said Congressman Scott. “I have been committed to the restoration and conservation of the Bay for my entire career in elected office. I will continue working with my colleagues to ensure the Congress provides the necessary resources so that the next generation of Americans will still be able to enjoy this precious natural resource."
Earlier this year, Congressman Scott led his colleagues in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed Task Force in sending a letter to the House Appropriations Committee requesting increased funding for the Chesapeake Bay Program, water quality infrastructure projects and other important cleanup and conservation efforts.
Programs funded under H.R. 3055 include:
- EPA Chesapeake Bay Program: $85 million;
- Clean Water State Revolving Fund: $1.8 billion;
- Chesapeake Bay Gateways and Watertrails: $2.27 million;
- Land and Water Conservation Fund: $523.9 million.
