Press Release

WASHINGTON, D.C.Congressman Bobby Scott (VA-03) announced today that FEMA has begun accepting applications for funeral assistance for Virginians who have lost loved ones to COVID-19. The funeral assistance program is part of the American Rescue Plan that was passed by Congress and signed by President Biden earlier this year.

“We have lost far too many people to the COVID-19 pandemic, and funeral costs far too often add tremendous mental and emotional stress to the grieving process,” said Congressman Scott. “Hopefully Virginians who have suffered the loss of a loved one to COVID-19 will take advantage of this relief program.”

Virginians should call FEMA’s dedicated call center at 844-684-6333; TTY 800-462-7585, Monday -Friday, 9 AM ET - 9 PM ET to apply. Relief up to $9,000 may be available. No online applications will be accepted. Multilingual services will be available. More information can be found HERE.
