As 2020 Tax Filing Season Gets Underway, Scott to Host Tax Credit Information Session for Constituents
NEWPORT NEWS, VA – NEXT WEEK, Congressman Bobby Scott (VA-03) will host an information session on tax credits. Many individuals and working families may not realize they qualify for the EITC and/or the Child Tax Credit. Both of these credits are refundable for those below certain income levels. According to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, the EITC lifted about 5.6 million people out of poverty, including about 3 million children, in 2018.
April 15, 2020 is the deadline to file 2019 federal income taxes, and this information session will be an opportunity for constituents to learn more about the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and the Child Tax Credit (CTC). Congressman Scott will be joined by experts from the Hampton Roads Community Action Program and the Commonwealth Institute for Fiscal Analysis.
